A key part of my process for writing Learning the Revolution was to interview people who I felt had valuable stories and insights to share, but who you might not necessarily connect with the world of continuing education and professional development. Michael Stelzner was someone I knew I wanted on the list.
I first became aware of Stelzner when I found his book on writing white papers, and then later I watched as he launched and grew Social Media Examiner into a major force, even after huge sites like Mashable had already staked out that territory. In this interview, I talk with Michael about the power of free content, the demise of traditional membership models, and the vital role that virtual conferences have played as part of Social Media Examiner’s business model. The interview runs about 18 minutes, and I guarantee a return on the time invested.
