I’ve set up this page to provide resources related to a Web 2.0 workshop I delivered for the Association Executives of North Carolina in April, 2008. In this workshop, we covered some of the fundamental ways in which communication has changed, looked at core social media technologies, like podcasts, wikis, and blogs, discussed the new opportunities and challenges for marketing in a Web 2.0 world, and wrapped up with a quick look at an array of new technology tools.
If you attended the workshop, thank you! If you were not able to attend, or simply found this page through search or a referral from a colleague, welcome! In either case, I encourage you to bookmark this page and share it with others.
If you would like to offer a similar workshop for your organization, please contact me. Also, if you would like to receive monthly news and insights on social media, marketing, and business strategy, I encourage you to subscribe to my newsletter.
I’ve organized things here according to the session titles in the workshop and have also included some additional resources. Click on any of the links below to jump to a particular section, or simply scroll down the page.

Below are links to all of the sites referenced in this presentation. I will be filling in brief descriptions for each one over the next several days. As I noted during my presentation, to keep this list from being shaped too much by my personal work habits, I asked a handful of colleagues to suggest tools they think are valuable. I’ve noted these suggestions below, and I encourage you to visit the Web sites of the people who made the suggestions (just click on their names).
Also, all of the links below as well as many others are maintained in my Del.icio.us account at: http://del.icio.us/jcobbm2l/cooltools.

- Social Media in Action
A brief article that I wrote recently for the Association Executives of North Carolina’s quarterly newsletter. In it, I address three of the more common social media tools: blogs, wikis, and podcasts. - Hedgehog & Fox
Hedgehog & Fox is a blog where I write about general business strategy, with a particular focus on new media, marketing, and capacity building. - Mission to Learn
Mission to Learn is a blog where I write about online learning opportunities and how to be a more productive and successful learner.. - Learning 2.0 for Associations
Learning 2.0 for Associations, a free e-book, focuses on the ways in which associations can and are incorporating social media into their learning programs. The book briefly explores the evolution of learning; offers a range of examples to illustrate how tools like blogs, podcasts, wikis, and social networking sites can complement traditional learning activities; and suggests steps for moving forward in your organization
